Standards Recommended for Residential Homes

Water Chemistry

Chlorine level minimum 1 part per million not to exceed 10 parts per million
PH 7.2 to 7.8
Total Alkalinity 80 to 120, not to exceed 200
Calcium 200 to 400, not to exceed 800
Cyanuric Acid 30 to 50, not to exceed 100

Service

Homes sleeping 16 and up, require 3 visits weekly
Homes sleeping 15 and under, require 2 visits weekly

Spa Rules
No Diving
No Lifeguard

Safety Equipment

Shepherd’s hook
Ring buoy
Depth markers

Gates and Fences

Latches must meet building code requirements
Gates must be self-closing
Pool fences must be sufficient height to protect the pool area and follow building code

Recordkeeping

Accurate records maintained in a log book
Records must include:

• Date

• Operator’s name

• Chemical levels

• Action performed by operator

• Adjusted chemical levels

• Safety equipment on site

• Signage

Water Clarity

The operator should be able to read a coin in 5’ to 6’ of water
If the water clarity is not up to this standard, the pool must be closed until water clarity is corrected

Water Temperature

Spas not to exceed 104 degrees
Pools not to exceed 90 degrees

Closing

Pool operator has the right to close a pool or spa for any issue he/she may deem unhealthy, unsafe, or constitutes a health hazard
